Any bird receiving this award must fly the complete time (Minimum 15 minutes) as stated in
the by laws for competition. The finals judge has the final say in the awards to be presented
up to ten (10) birds with a bird only given one award per fly 11 or 20 bird, but not both.
Give a plaque and Master flyer points. Award MF points as follows, 1. 20pts, 2.
15pts, 3-5 10pts, 6-10 5pts
The creation of the Ruby Award and its history.
During the 2025 NCF Finals Judge Ruben Solorio picked the top 10 individual rollers from all of the finals which included the 11 and 20 bird finalist. These birds stood out of the more then 1200 birds that he judged during the finals. This is the story in Ruben’s own words and the birds that won.
Throughout the fly he kept looking for the most outstanding birds. Though they may not come from the winning kits, these 10 stood out as the top ten birds through the entire fly. After talking with the incoming President, Kevin Monroe, as well as National Fly Director,John Kelly, and Danny Sturgeon about how I wanted to award these birds it was decided to call the award the Ruby Award. When I was a boy, my brothers and their friends called me Ruby. So, Kevin Monroe came up with the Ruby Award, so these are the first Ruby Award winners of which each will be awarded a plaque.
