THE NBRC HALL OF FAME
By Joe Marlett of Marysville, Indiana (First published in July-August 1998, this
information is reprinted annually as a helpful guideline) As a voting member, here
are my thoughts on the Hall of Fame candidates…
ELIGIBILITY FOR INDUCTION
Any past or present owner of performing Rollers, living or deceased, who has
contributed the most to our hobby. These contributors would not necessarily be
required to be NBRC members. Of course, the numbers inducted each year would
be in accordance with our NBRC Bylaws. I prefer “contributed the most” to
lifetime achievement, because some fanciers contribute the most to our Roller
hobby during their younger years while others make greater contributions in their
older years. Also, we have several roller men who have made significant
contributions prior to the existence of the NBRC Hall of Fame program, and we
have prominent foreign members.
WHO SHOULD BE NOMINATED.
a) Secretary-Treasurers and Bulletin Publishers of non-profit National and
International Roller Clubs. Our Roller hobby is 100 percent dependent on
volunteers. It is sometimes easy to organize a Roller club but very difficult to
keep it going. Since our secretaries and publishers hold the hardest and most
demanding jobs in our hobby, they should always be near the top for nomination.
b). Organizers of Regional and Local Roller Clubs. Men and women who organize
Roller clubs, serve as officers and support their clubs locally and regionally really
contribute to our hobby.
c). Roller Event Managers. Roller event promoters such as the FDB Fly in Ohio,
the Backspin Roller Classic in South Carolina, the California Classic, the
California Pensom Memorial Fly / Show, and the NBRC Convention are all
designed to attract large groups of Roller fanciers. They deserve recognition.
d) World Cup Continental Coordinators, Regional Directors, LAD’s, and Judges. If
you notice, a lot of these fanciers work year after year in this most prestigious
world competition, and many of the same men manage the NBRC Fall Fly. They
travel thousands of miles each year, and some even two times each year to make
it work. I would love to vote for some of these men for induction.
e) Writers of Roller articles that influence or help other fanciers. We have several
excellent writers who continually provide us with thought-provoking and helpful
bulletin articles year after year. Their unselfish contributions and time spent
writing should be recognized.
f) Roller Band Secretaries. Our quiet, non-elected fanciers provide a service that
we cannot do without. All whom I know are highly qualified to be nominated.
g) Winners of major Roller contests. These men set the competition standards

___________________________

This would be a guideline, the voting would stay as is, the Hall of Fame Members vote is what gets anyone into the Hall.  Members nominating should not think that because a person got 75 points that their nominee is a Hall of Fame member.

This categorical criterion is provided as a tool to be used in determining the viability of a candidate for the Hall of
Fame. A nominee must have earned a minimum total of 75 points garnered from at least 3 of the listed categories.
Please include this score sheet with your HOF Nomination Form, along with any supporting evidence you may
choose to add.

This is just a suggestion of those nominating individuals to see if they should be nominated. Obtaining 75 points
does not make them a Hall of Fame Member.
